Nino Rota Essentials

The repertoire of Giovanni “Nino” Rota is among the most beloved and recognisable in cinematic history. A composer, pianist and conductor, Rota is best known for his work on the films of Frederico Fellini and Francis Ford Coppola. Obviously influenced by the classical greats, he applied his Italian charm to the jaunty brass and woodwind of the theme for 8½, but took a more mournful approach to the famous waltz for The Godfather. An accomplished writer of operas and ballets alongside his film work, Rota sprinkled magic wherever he went.
