Something of a schlager anomaly, while Nino de Angelo was born in Germany (Karlsruhe, to be precise), he's Italian by descent. He has sung in German, English and Italian, reinterpreting numbers by OMD and Sting and collaborating with German dance-pop duo Modern Talking. But the sweeping, often synthesiser-pulsed, almost disco-rock ballads from his '80s Eurovision heyday had him playing the Latin lover role to the hilt. He can be quite inspirational as well—reassuring us that we're all giants, or that we're never too old to be young.
