A DJ and producer who began his career as a percussionist, Nicola Cruz was born in France to Ecuadorian parents, and his international experiences can be heard in his music. He has one ear on modern electronic music, and the other on the ancient musical traditions of the Andes. "Inversions" combines polyrhythms with a synthesised edge, while sitar and pan pipes drift along a minimal, shuffling beat on "Siete". "Cumbia del Olvido", a deeply hypnotising groove intertwined with acoustic and electric guitars, is among his many explorations of spirituality.
