Canadian brothers Maynard and Blaise came to Japan to teach English and found a career as rock stars instead. At the turn of the millennium the two guitarists joined forces with Takuya Kikuchi, of Sendai, and Sapporo recruit Hideki Mori on bass. Together they formed MONKEY MAJIK, and built a fervent fan base around Sendai’s local club scene before making their major label debut in 2006. Between ‘00s pop-rock energy and earnest balladry, the band fuses languages and a global tapestry of sonic influences to pave their own way.
