Milt Jackson's reputation is rightly built on his work with the Modern Jazz Quartet, plus compositions like “Bags' Groove.” But his genius also extends to his two albums with Ray Charles, as well as sideman appearances on lesser-known albums by Dizzy Gillespie and Coleman Hawkins that were enlivened by his lyrical touch.
