Debuting in the 21st century and naming an early album Disco, Michael Wendler favoured leather, stubble and dark sunglasses. Frequently backed by banging electronic Eurodance beats and fist-pumping “hey! hey! hey!” shouts, he sings schlager for the age of Scooter. His songs even get dance remixes—not terribly surprising, given that he sings about women who fall in love with the DJ. While earlier male schlager stars invariably emphasised romance, and though he's not averse to ballads himself, Wendler would usually rather help you party—on a vacation beach, if you can get to one.
