UK post-punk legends Magazine were formed by ex-Buzzcock Howard Devoto in 1977. The cerebral Manchester five-piece also featured future Banshee John McGeoch and future Bad Seed and soundtrack king Barry Adamson. With a distinctive sound that was dark, arty, and dramatic, Magazine were regarded as one of the finest bands of the era. After four critically lauded studio albums—all of which charted—Devoto left to go solo and Magazine disbanded. This selection not only features cuts from their halcyon period but also from a highly successful 2011 reunion album.
