From their debut in 2014, LUCKY TAPES have carved their place in Tokyo’s music scene with a sound that mixes melancholy moods with jazzy, funky grooves. While drummer Tsubasa Hamada left the band in 2016, the creative trinity of keyboardist/singer Kai Takahashi, bassist Keito Taguchi and guitarist Kensuke Takahashi continue to distil the fragility of modern life into lush, lyrical tunes—from the hopeful vibes of “Happiness” to the graceful nostalgia of “Laundry”. In concert the band swell to encompass a compact orchestra, but the essence of their songs shines in the original recordings.
