On “The Isle of Arran,” the opening track from his 2017 debut, Yesterday's Gone, he samples a rapturous choir and some funky guitar licks while using his soft-spoken flow to ponder the meaning of death. “Ain't Nothing Changed” finds him musing on the brutal hardships of debt over a blues-licked saxophone, but his guest verse on Tom Misch's breezier “Crazy Dream” shows his less serious side, resulting in a chilled-out joint that could soundtrack a summer party.
