With their compositional chops, feverish drums, and sunny vocal harmonies, Local Natives scan as the Los Angeles version of Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, or Fleet Foxes. Like their contemporaries, they blend elegant if idiosyncratic melodies in building upwards to ecstatic peaks. But this indie band's playlist proves they are a different kind of beast, one that never forgo the exuberance and vigor of rock.
