Let Them Eat Sunshine (Expanded)

Let Them Eat Sunshine (Expanded)

A collection of songs from mostly the aughts and early teens of the 2000's, this compilation begins in a earlier era with the swelling beauty of "Oh My Love" composed by Riz Ortolani and sung by Katyna Ranieri. The opener is the theme originally set against the ugly beauty of 1971's flim "Addio Zio Tom" (Goodbye Uncle Tom in English) and went to be the climax to the film "Drive". An eclectic collection of alterna-pop, mood-punk, and electro-pop — highlights from this collection include: "Staring at the Sun" by TV On the Radio, "All I Need" by Radiohead, "Underworld USA" off of Cold Cave's blast-pop album Cherish the Light Years, "Love's On Its Way" from Corinne Bailey Rae's beautiful but underrated album The Sea, Natasha Kahn's haunting "Laura", and "B4 3D" from the oddly saccharine electro-pop of Architecture In Helsinki. Conceived of as a mix-tape, the collection obeys some of the conventions of creating a good mix while disregarding others such using the same artist more than once. As the opening track suggests, this collection of songs was gathered in the process of loosing and rediscovering love, liberally dealing out self-destruction, and feeling the depths and extremes of a mature relationship in need of rescue.
