Lady Saw Essentials

Lady Saw Essentials

Some of the bawdiest lyrics in reggae belong to Lady Saw, but there's a message to her frank approach to life, love, and sexuality. She took on some of reggae's rudest male MCs, recording duets with Shabba Ranks, Beenie Man, and Shaggy. By the time of 2007's Walk Out she was matching the X-rated numbers with more serious lyrics about adoption and infertility. Her status as queen of dancehall was reinforced when JAY Z referenced her signature tune, “Sycamore Tree,” on his own Black Album. Around this time she also guested on hits by No Doubt and Vitamin C.
