La Souris Déglinguée Essentials

Since the late '70s, La Souris Déglinguée have endured as France's preeminent punk institution. Their earliest recordings—like the corrosively jangly gem “Jeunes Seigneurs”—were positioned at the intersection of post-punk and power pop, but by 1983's “Parti de la jeunesse,” they were flexing a more muscular mix of surf rock and New Wave. And with the jazzy swing of 1986's “Eddy Jones,” the punk rule book was tossed out the window altogether. But the title track to 2013's Sur les toits du Palace reasserts their flair for raw-powered, shout-along anthems.
