Thrash takes on a particularly primal edge in the hands of these Germans. Early growlers like 1985's “Riot of Violence” presage death metal with their brutality. “Betrayer” is no slouch either, with riffs a fiery blur while singer Mille Petrozza screeches like a hellspawn. Even “Death to the World,” which boasts plenty of prog precision, bludgeons eardrums like a caveman's club.
