Kenny Garrett Essentials

Kenny Garrett hails from Detroit, which was still a hotbed of jazz activity in 1984 when the alto sax player released his first solo album after tenures with legends Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, and, most notably, Miles Davis. Garrett's association with Miles would catapult him to wider popularity, but the sax man never stopped expanding his horizons, blending bop roots with an exploratory, post-bop vision of modern jazz that made him one of the most celebrated saxophonists of his generation. Today, Garrett continues to collaborate with the best improvisers in the world.
