Johnny Mathis may be famous for his careful poise, but there are plenty of opportunities to hear the classic crooner loosen his tie. He gets playful against the plucky jazz of 1958's “Teacher, Teacher”—including a winking innuendo or two—and surprisingly buttery on 1984's funky ballad “Simple.” And the squirrelly holiday chestnut “Sleigh Ride” gives him a chance to flex his craft at a pinging higher tempo.
