An icon of the late-'70s New Wave scene, U.K. singer/songwriter Joe Jackson salted his classically inflected pop compositions with punk's sneering indignation. His debut album, Look Sharp!, overcame early commercial indifference when exhaustive touring drove its first single up the charts and into the annals of rock classics. Eclectic and restless, Jackson spent the next two decades experimenting with different styles, including jazz and jump blues, with both 1982's Night and Day and 1984's Body and Soul yielding several hits.
