Jodeci Essentials

Jodeci added a street smart edge to R&B boy groups in the early-'90s. Comprised of two sets of brothers—K-Ci and JoJo, plus Mr. Dalvin and DeVante Swing—they dressed like rappers and used hip-hop slang in their lyrics. But it was the quartet's vintage vocal ability that saw their 1991 debut, Forever My Lady, quickly certified as platinum. The group's follow up, Diary of a Mad Band, brought Redman and Missy Elliott into the mix, but at heart the Jodeci sound is always about the soul they convey when they're singing.
