Intocable Essentials

Intocable Essentials

Led by Ricky Muñoz, a singing accordionist with pop smarts, Texas-based Intocable (Untouchable) became Tejano stars in the '90s through constant innovation and plenty of surprises. Beginning with norteño's polka rhythms, bajo sexto foundation, accordion accents, and emotional vocals, Intocable added surprising flashes of rock guitar ("Tu Ausencia"), subtle psychedelia ("Aire"), and jazzy electric bass ("Fuerte No Soy"). And as their Tejano descendants became increasingly pop-besotted, Intocable replied with the India-tinged "Dímelo" and the elegantly understated "Te Amo (Para Siempre)."
