Everybody loves a good ghost story, and composers are no exception. Opera in particular provides a rich seam of spooky apparitions, whether it’s Don Giovanni being dragged to hell by the ghost of the Commendatore, or The Flying Dutchman—Wagner’s ghost ship, doomed to roam the seas forever.
