Splitting his time between the U.S. and South Korea, G2 uses these duelling influences to reimagine old school hip-hop for a new, global audience. His West Coast-inspired beats draw on classic funk, soul and jazz, while his laid-back raps flit seamlessly between Korean and English. On the 2017 album Life, his vocals are centre stage, delivering soft melodic hooks on songs like “Knockin' at the Door” and “Growing Pains”. Eschewing the current trend for trap-inspired hip-hop, his sonic palette has remained rooted in classic pop, providing a colourful, classic simplicity in many of his tracks.
