A founding member of punk bands Fokofpolisiekar and Van Coke Kartel, singer/songwriter Francois Van Coke has proven himself a leader of South African alt-rock, imbuing his Afrikaner perspective with raw defiance. Fierce guitars meet searing intonations in “Antibiotika”, and are contrasted with gentler acoustic melodies and gravelly pleas in “Tot Die Son Uitkom”. Often defined by the furious urgency of his jagged riffs and blistering choruses, this collection reveals Van Coke's ability to also encompass passion, longing, loss and grief.
