Franco Essentials

Named after lead singer Franco Reyes, the Cebu-based foursome initially began as a five-piece, comprising members of iconic Filipino rock bands such as Urbandub. Their 2010 self-titled debut immediately shot to the top of the charts with anthemic, crowd-pleasing rollers such as “Castaway” and “This Gathering”—characterised by Reyes’ expressively gruff vocals and sharp, emotive lyricism. After a line-up change in 2012 that left Reyes as the group’s sole original member, Franco welcomed more diverse musical influences into their sonic palette, such as the reggae-inflected “Better Days”.
