Many have attempted to emulate Falamansa’s thrilling forró sound since their inception in 1998, but few have captured their breezy effervescence and contagious harmonies. Led by vocalist and guitarist Taro, their nylon-string guitar lines, floaty accordion solos and light grooves have kept fans dancing in their São Paulo hometown and beyond, making them legends of the northeastern-region form of Brazilian pop. “Amigo Velho” and the delicate “Asas” are intimate showcases of the quartet’s chemistry, zipping through lively melodies with sun-soaked enthusiasm.
