No one can forget the silky, old-school harmonies of ‘90s R&B girl group En Vogue. Comprised of Dawn Robinson, Terry Ellis, Maxine Jones, and Cindy Herron, the Oakland-based quartet sang about empowerment when the girls of Destiny's Child were still in grade school. Their 1990 debut, Born to Sing, was certified platinum, while their sophomore LP, Funky Divas, was even bigger—producing several huge singles. Robinson left the group during the making of their album EV3, but the remaining trio stayed intact, pushing the album to platinum sales.
