Dr. Dog Essentials

Dr. Dog started out in pure DIY fashion, self-recording and releasing albums while maintaining a busy touring schedule in their native Philadelphia. Their 2002 release Toothbrush—instrumental to their success—caught the attention of My Morning Jacket, who invited them on tour. They went full psych-rock on label debut Easy Beat, and garnered mainstream attention with 2010's Shame, Shame. Their earlier material may be lo-fi, but they've proven to be so much more, switching easily from '60s pop to bluesy folk rock, keeping fans and critics on edge and satisfied.
