DNA: The Producers

DNA: The Producers

Meeting as high school students in Sydney, David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii began their life as producers after discovering the layering possibilities of the school’s resident synthesizer. Since then, the multi-instrumentalists and songwriters known as DNA have put their reliable touch on some of Australia’s hugest pop songs, racking up a procession of chart-toppers starting with The X Factor winner Reece Mastin’s thumping 2011 debut single “Good Night.” They’ve continued to hone their commercial prowess through repeat collaborations with The Veronicas, Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy, and Samantha Jade, while also buoying overseas talent like Ricky Martin. And it speaks volumes about the duo’s universal appeal that they’ve helped to shape several of Australia’s official Eurovision entries, including Dami Im’s “Sound of Silence” in 2016 and Montaigne’s “Don’t Break Me” in 2020. Through it all, DNA makes sure to sell the emotional arc of everything they work on—even as they ensure it has the broadest possible reach.
