DJ Quik: Influences

DJ Quik: Influences

DJ Quik's production finds grooviness in the live instrumentation of ‘70s R&B and gleam in the synths and drum machines of ‘80s electro and hip-hop. He subtly pulls from Zapp's “More Bounce to the Ounce” for the gangsta rap snarl of “Way 2 Fonky”; his global funk takes in a bit of the German electronic group Kraftwerk's desolate “Computer Love” and the rawness of Run-D.M.C.'s “My Adidas.”
