Digitalism Essentials

When James Murphy sang about introducing Daft Punk to the rock kids, he might as well have been talking about Digitalism, a Hamburg duo who combine the French group's filter disco with dance-punk guitars, fist-pumping energy and shout-along choruses. On their debut album, they covered The Cure and nodded to Cassius' Philippe Zdar, and their DJ-Kicks mix references boisterous indie dance and overdriven techno alike. But their catalogue proves far more than the sum of their influences: It spans peak-time anthems, club bangers and progressive synth epics, all rendered with unique flair.
