Full of fierce, slashing songs that bitterly (and hilariously) mocked consumer culture, sexual mores, and even the very idea of rock music, Devo sprouted from the otherwise reasonable state of Ohio in the early '70s. Taking their name from the concept of De-Evolution—that mankind is regressing rather than progressing—the band donned protective suits, plastic hats, and safety goggles and released nine successful studio albums to spread their message. Although original members Bob Casale and Alan Myers passed away in 2014 and 2013, respectively, Devo continue to tour and record today.
