Devo: Deep Cuts

Devo: Deep Cuts

Devo helped introduce electronic instruments to rock music. The rubbery arpeggios of songs like “Cold War” became New Wave cornerstones, but they didn't stop there. In 1978's “Mechanical Man,” they deployed wild tones reminiscent of far-out synth players like Morton Subotnick, and “Devo Corporate Anthem” is a sly parody of consumerist propaganda that's also thrilling on a purely visceral level.
