In most of Demon Hunter's hard-hitting songs, the band cast themselves in the roles of fearless Christian warriors. Both “The Soldier's Song” and “Storm the Gates of Hell” unfold like biblical battles, with valiant metalcore screams and pit-swirling grooves lashing out at the forces of evil. Even heavier is “Lifewar,” in which Ryan Clark bellows lines like “Born again with eyes for war” over viciously percussive riff assaults.
