Daryl Braithwaite Essentials

Daryl Braithwaite has one of Australia's finest soul voices, best heard taking flight over the stirring aspirational rock of “As the Days Go By” and the skippy flamenco strut of “One Summer.” His calling card is 1991's “The Horses,” an impassioned and summery ballad offering better times to come, although his international breakthrough came in 1976 with the band Sherbet on the evergreen “Howzat”—the rare example of a power-pop song that uses cricket as a metaphor for love gone bad.
