Cliff Richard's greatest hits rightly have shown him as a warm and wholesome entertainer since the late ‘50s, but his songs also contain a flinty edge. It's there in the pugnacious New Wave of “Carrie” and the glam-rock stomp of “Blue Turns to Grey,” and he sounds genuinely bereft in “The Day I Met Marie.” It's also in his rocker howls amid the twist-party grooviness of “Do You Wanna Dance.”
