Editors’ Notes Cliff Richard's historic reign at the top of the British pop charts is surpassed only by Queen Elizabeth's reign at Buckingham Palace. As a teen, Richard became England's first certified homegrown rock star, scoring a debut hit in 1958 and going on to claim at least one chart-topper in every decade through the '90s. Starting out in the rebellious early-rocker mode of such American idols as Elvis Presley, Richard's sound and image softened over the years as he delved deeper into his Christian beliefs and became very much a plank of the British establishment. In 2013, Sir Cliff reached the remarkable milestone of releasing his 100th album, The Fabulous Rock 'N' Roll Songbook.
