Since forming in 2008, the Haarlemer indie group Chef'Special have gone from a popular local act as the house band on De Wereld Draait Door to opening for major groups like twenty one pilots. Their genre-blending sound adds in styles of hip-hop, ska, reggae, rock, funk and EDM to open-hearted lyrics for a winning combination of deft musicality and genuine emotion. And the emotion runs the gamut—some tracks uplift with gentle guitar, while others delve deep, using discordant sounds to deal with strife and pain.
