Grounding some of history's great jazz recordings with the anchor-like gravity of his double bass, Charlie Haden may be best known for his work with Ornette Coleman. Those legendary harmonies with Coleman and Don Cherry would have been enough to cement his legendary status. But he went on to record many more unmistakably individual performances with some of the best improvisers in the world.
