Cathy Dennis Essentials

British singer and songwriter Cathy Dennis has had two distinct lives in music: successful performer, and writer of hits for others. Born in Norwich, England, in 1969, she first broke through as the featured vocalist on acid-house producer D-Mob’s hit “C’Mon and Get My Love.” Dennis’ 1990 debut album, Move To This, combined percolating dance grooves and pure pop hooks, going Gold in the UK with hits such as “Touch Me (All Night Long)” and “Too Many Walls.” Dennis detoured into pop-rock on 1996’s Am I The Kind Of Girl?, working with members of XTC. Then, in the 2000s, she found massive success writing for others, including Kylie Minogue (“Can’t Get You Out of My Head”), Britney Spears (“Toxic”), and Katy Perry (“I Kissed a Girl”).
