Carminho: Influences

Although steeped in the tradition of Portuguese fado, Carminho is a true crossover artist, as inclined to Brazilian samba and Cuban bolero as she is to Western soul and jazz. Her varied tastes can be followed through the slow sways of Ibrahim Ferrer's "Melodia del Rio", the wavering heartbreak of Antony and the Johnsons' "Fistful of Love" and the swelling croons of Nana Caymmi's "Dupla Traição".
