Broken Social Scene Essentials

At first, Broken Social Scene was just a side project of two Toronto friends, Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, who recorded 2001's Feel Good Lost mostly on their own. Looking to expand their largely instrumental post-rock sound, the pair asked other local musicians to contribute, creating a collective of no fixed size. Eclectic second album You Forgot It In People, featuring lyrics and vocals from Feist and Metric's Emily Haines, became an international sensation. Continuing their no-rules, no-fixed-lineup over the course of several more albums, BSS went on hiatus in 2011.
