Blues Traveler Essentials

This New Jersey group crashed the '90s grunge party with blistering blues that took flight on the wings of jam-band experimentation. They're renowned for playing with pinpoint accuracy and untamed ferocity, while frontman John Popper's harmonica is virtually another voice, burbling like birdsong on the jaunty “Run-Around” and howling its way through the rattling shuffle and guitar grunt of “But Anyway.” They even cook up tasty Southern-fried rock on “Hook,” where the dynamic Popper uses his motormouth delivery to convince listeners that a song that says it's about nothing can really mean something.
