Blue Rodeo Essentials

True legends in Canada, 11-time Juno Award winners Blue Rodeo never quite managed to invade the U.S., where they remained a well-kept secret shared among discerning ears. The group was alt-country before the genre even had a name, building on country-rock pioneer Gram Parsons' work with their own distinctive pop sensibility. Led by singer/songwriters Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor, they scored a huge hit with their first album, Outskirts, and went through an incredibly creative period between 1991 and '94, when they released back-to-back classics Casino, Lost Together, and Five Days in July. The latter, still the best-selling album of the band's impressive discography, marked the high point of their career, but Blue Rodeo have continued to put out wonderful music over the past 20 years.
