Guitarist and composer Warren Mendonsa first gave us a taste of his virtuosic skills in tracks with alternative rock band Zero. In 2007 he launched a solo career as blues-rock artist Blackstratblues and ever since he’s proven to be perhaps the most consistently creative instrumentalist in India’s independent scene. With influences ranging from The Beatles’ and Pink Floyd’s psychedelia to Led Zeppelin’s hard edge and Dire Straits’ soulful technicality, his distinctive sound encompasses roaring riff-heavy rock-outs, meditative ballads and mid-tempo bops—tunes for every mood.
