Black Flag Essentials

Black Flag Essentials

Black Flag were a seminal band in the rise of hardcore punk. They were instrumental in creating hardcore's signature aggressive drive, as embodied by Greg Ginn's assaultive guitar and confrontational vocals by several singers, including Keith Morris and Henry Rollins. The band also helped to create a global network for indie bands through relentless touring in the '80s and Ginn's label, SST, which released countless essential punk LPs. Black Flag detoured into proto-metal with their final album before disbanding in 1986, though various members have reunited in the 21st century.
