Beth Orton Essentials

A folk singer with a love of electronic beats, Beth Orton successfully meshed the two styles together on 1993's Superpinkymandy debut, a project produced by William Orbit. Her breakthrough album, 1996's Trailer Park, saw her embracing a poppier vibe, while 1999's Central Reservation included input from Everything but the Girl's Ben Watt and the vintage folk figure Terry Callier. Whichever direction she moves in, listening to Orton's ethereal and precious voice is always an emotive experience.
