Barry Adamson Essentials

Barry Adamson was already a key figure of the British post-punk scene due to his bass work in both Magazine and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. But since leaving the latter in 1988, he has busied himself by creating cut-and-paste soundtracks to imaginary films, making albums that delightedly skip from glammy rave-ups to musique concrète soundscapes, and writing passionate pop songs that evoke influences like Scott Walker, Ennio Morricone, and Lee “Scratch” Perry. Adamson has also gotten the call to make actual movie soundtracks, creating modern film noir backdrops for directors like Carl Colpaert.
