Since meeting at San Francisco State University in 2005, the members of Barn Owl, Evan Caminiti and Jon Porras, have been immersing themselves and their listeners in huge waves of ambience and drone. The duo use guitars and electronics to paint vast landscapes of sound that, even at their loudest, still feel calming and tranquil. Both together and on their own, the members of Barn Owl have released an impressive number of albums that feature their fluid, expansive compositions via Chicago-based Thrill Jockey Records and various smaller imprints.
