Alison Wonderland Essentials

Born Alexandra Sholler, Sydney multi-hyphenate Alison Wonderland dabbled in cello and bass guitar before falling head over heels for electronic music. After cutting her teeth on ace remixes, she made her proper debut with the 2013 single “Get Ready,” a swaggering, rap-slanted collaboration with Fishing. Her reputation for blockbuster crowd-pleasing very much sealed, Sholler saw both 2015’s Run and 2018’s Awake top Australia’s dance album chart. What sets her apart from so many heavyweight DJ/producers, though, is that she can sing like a true pop star. Those soaring vocals have become integral to her empowering anthems, bringing confessional gravity to woozy, pulsing cuts like “Peace” and “Church.”
