Polish pianist/composer Piotr Anderszewski has a bit of a thing for the classics. He studied at the Chopin Academy in Warsaw in the ‘80s, so it's no surprise that his Chopin (Ballade No. 4 in F Minor) has as much rhapsodic fervor and melodic pathos as anyone's; for that matter, his Romantic music in general (Schumann's Fantasie in C Major) carries a fantastic sense of drama and whimsicality. Come for those, but stay for his Bach and Mozart, which find excellent balance from Anderszewski's sturdy grasp of temporality, melody, and dynamics.
