Khalil Fong's final playlist as Apple Music's Guest Curator of the Month digs deep into hip-hop, and the development of what has become a worldwide culture. He explains, “You could say hip-hop is street poetry. Much like the blues, early hip-hop was a way to express the challenges people faced in life and society. Hip-hop is now influencing today's pop and rock. From its beats to rhyme schemes, hip-hop's unique approach to rhythm makes pop more intense and catchy. At the same time, R&B and pop have had their influence on hip-hop, especially in terms of melodic and harmonic elements”.
